JACKSONVILLE, FL, February 14, 2011 -- The Wall Systems business of BASF Corporation, a leading manufacturer of EIFS, stucco and air / water-resistive barriers in the construction industry, announced that the International Code Council (ICC) Evaluation Services has issued Evaluation Report ESR-3209, which recognizes Enershield-HP as a water-resistive barrier, as well as flexible flashing for commercial and residential construction. The report confirms compliance with applicable sections of the 2006 International Building Code (IBC) and the 2006 International Residential Code (IRC).
Enershield™-HP is a factory-mixed, one component, fluid-applied, vapor permeable, air / water-resistive barrier. The coating may be spray-, roller-, brush-, or trowel-applied directly to approved wall substrates under code complying wall claddings, including BASF Wall Systems’ EIFS, brick, siding, metal panels, stucco and others.
In addition, Enershield™-HP may be combined with sheathing fabric to be used as flexible flashing. Unlike some water-resistive barrier materials, which may require extra steps and costs, Enershield- HP, used as flexible flashing, provides an additional, cost-effective benefit to the standard application.
“By using one water-resistive barrier behind your claddings, you have a continuous wrap around your building, don’t have to worry about transitions and can also save money in the process,” said Richard Martens, Nonresidential Manager for BASF Wall Systems.
